The NHHDS Spartans basketball organization was started in March of 2003 by founder and head director Chris Coates. Chris is a NH basketball native in being a former Winnacunnet high school All-American, Keene State College All-American, and former overseas professional player and coach. The NHHDS Spartans basketball program was founded on the principle of teaching youth players the fundamentals of the game of basketball. The goal is to improve the overall talent of players from NH at a young age so by high school these players have real chances of receiving scholarship offers.

Today the Spartans organization is the largest basketball club in New Hampshire and the 2nd largest in New England. What makes the Spartans program so special is the strength of its coaching staff. Our coaching staff has numerous years of basketball experience at the high school, college and professional level. Our coaches are true mentors of the game and build player’s character as well as their basketball skills.

The Spartans organization offers year round basketball training from the age of 1st grade to senior year in high school. We compete in the AAU basketball spring season, coordinate summer and fall basketball leagues, host large basketball tournaments, run basketball camps and skills nights and offer exclusive one on one basketball training. Last year the Spartans organization added a top strength and conditioning coach to the staff by the name of Craig Favara. Craig hosts year round boot camps, speed-agility and strength classes and one-on-one personal training.

The Spartans AAU teams, roster some of the top players from New England. We are a power house club in NH which has many teams wining state tournaments each year. The last 4 years, the Spartans have sent multiple teams to compete at the national level. The Spartans have two main locations where they host and coach basketball. Portsmouth NH, and the other site at the SportsZone in Derry NH. Both locations have very competitive girls and boys programs. Jason Campbell, former Keene State College grad assistant coach, is the co-director of the Derry Lady Spartans. This has been the fastest rising program in the last 3 years.

If you are looking for your child to learn the true fundamentals of the game of basketball, receive some of the best instruction around from qualified coaches and compete on talented basketball teams then signing up for the Spartans club is a must. We are eager to branch into lacrosse and track and field in the near future.
